Families - Cuttable versus Non-cuttable

Cuttable families will show a profile via heavy line depending on where your section cut plane exists.  Non-cuttable will show up in their entirety if any portion of the family exists beyond (in front of) or cut by the cut plane.

Not Cuttable families - always shown in projection views:

Structural Families

Cuttable Families - family displays as cut when the view cut plane intersects that family in referenced view:

  • Columns*
  • Curtain Wall Panels
  • Doors*
  • Generic Models
  • Site*
  • Structural Columns*
  • Structural Foundations*
  • Structural Framing*
  • Topography
  • Windows*

Cuttable System Families:
  • Ceilings
  • Floors
  • Roofs
  • Walls
*visibility of cut view can be controlled to show symbolic lines (ie door) in lieu of family geometry when cut.
